In Lochaber
The first Lochaber Local History Society meeting of 2019 sees the ‘world premiere' showing of a collection of old glass plate slides recently found at the other end of the country.
The scenes depicted follow in detail the construction of the West Highland Railway extension to Mallaig from 1897 to 1900.
They have been extensively researched by Hege Hernes of Glenfinnan Station Museum who will take his audience on a mystery tour from the Mallaig railway construction works and Polnish hospital, Arisaig, to Portland, Maine, via County Donegal.
