FROM SUMMIT TO SEA ... INSPIRING OUTDOOR EXPERIENCES
On Bike Night, listen to Jenny Graham from Inverness who broke the record for a female cycling around the world, knocking almost three weeks off the previous record of 144 days set by Italy’s Paola Gianotti in 2014. Yorkshire Invaders: Sam and Joe Flanagan come to Fort William to share the best of their Scottish adventures through film and photography.
Ben Nevis Distillery have kindly donated bottles of their famous whisky for participants of a unique treasure hunt along the paths of Ben Nevis! Find hidden bottles of whisky (or photographs of them for a safer experience!) which can then be claimed at the end of the hunt. Such a fun and interactive idea and certainly makes the climb even more rewarding! Big thanks to the team at Ben Nevis Distillery for this generous contribution.
Hear about a vision of a wilder Scotland through stunning imagery and visual storytelling. Peter Cairns introduces a re-wilding journey and David Heatherington offers a fascinating insight into how lynx and people interact elsewhere, with spectacular wild lynx images by Laurent Geslin.
The prestigious Scottish Awards for Excellence in Mountain Culture recognise the achievements of inspiring individuals and their outstanding contributions to Scotland’s outdoor culture. Last year the adult award was presented to Cameron McNeish.
The Exhibition Zone is based in the Nevis Centre and opens each evening. This year, the exhibition will host the Vango Gallery, a collection of evocative images by a Glaswegian artist depicting the wonders of camping and the outdoors. Alongside this will be the usual mix of mountaineering exhibits, books and trade stands.
During the day, there’ll be a choice of workshops and masterclasses taking place throughout Lochaber ranging from winter walking skills, ride out and coaching events to trail running skills: ascending and descending.
Festival tickets can sell out in advance, particularly for the popular nights. For more details, times and venues and to buy advance tickets, head to the new festival website www. mountainfestival.co.uk
