Green Machine back in action on Saturday

-

Oban Lorne are back in action this Saturday with their penultimate league game of the season at home to league strugglers Bishopton RFC.

The sides met last month just across the Erskine Bridge when Oban recorded a comfortable 36-11 victory.

Saturday’s game should be another comfortable win for Oban who have secured second place in the league following a poor loss off form by Uddingston and Strathaven and a recent winning run from the men in Green.

Bishopton, though, have it all to play for as they look to avoid the lower reaches of the league going into the closing stages of the season as bottom placed Cumbernauld have hit a good run of form pressurising the lower half of the table.

West Regional clubs voted in favour of 10 team leagues at last Wednesday’s league reconstruction meeting meaning Oban Lorne will still compete in West Division 2 next season along with the eight best placed teams in the division and the teams placed 11th and 12th in Division 1.

Saturday’s game kicks off at 3pm (TBC) at Glencruitten. The clubhouse will be open all day for the Super Saturday Six Nations fixtures including Scotland’s Calcutta Cup Clash at Twickenham which kicks off at 5pm.

Oban Lorne’s last league game of the season will be on Saturday March 23 when Paisley visit Glencruitten.
