Two solid displays from MacIntyre

-

Oban’s European Tour golfer Bob MacIntyre has had two successful weeks.

He made the cut at the Oman Open at Al Mouj Golf Club, Muscat, from February 28 to March 3 and the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters in Doha last week. High winds and sand storms made things difficult for the golfers in Oman which meant low scores were at a premium.

In the first, round Bob carded a one under par 71 with three birdies and two bogeys.

Round two, which was suspended for a while because of a sand storm, saw the Glencruitten golfer come home with a two over par 74 with three bogeys and one birdie.

Bob steadied the ship in the third round with three birdies and two bogeys for a two under par 72.

However, the final round, played in difficult conditions, turned into a bit of slog for the 22-year-old with a six over par 78 with one birdie, three bogeys and two double bogeys for a round of 78 which gave him a four-round total of 248 to finish in joint 45th place.

Winner was American Kurt Kitayama with a seven under par total of 281.

The tour then moved to Doha for the Qatar Masters where the Oban left-hander finished in joint 31st place.

In round one, Bob carded a superb three under par 69 with six birdies and three bogeys.

Round two saw the Oban golfer card two birdies and two bogeys for a level par round of 72.

Another level par round of two birdies and two bogeys in round three, then three birdies and two bogeys in round four saw him complete the competition with a two under par 70 to finish with a four round total of 283 and pick up a cheque for 12,300 euros.

The tour now moves to Africa for the Kenya Open at Karen Golf Club, Nairobi, from March 14 to 17.
