Are you ready to refresh, refurb and recycle?
It is spring, time to rescue that spider from the paint roller tray and wish you had made a better job of cleaning the mower before you put it away last autumn
In spring the first thing we all want to do inside is paint, paint, paint – with some papering going on as well. After all, who wants to be decorating indoors during winter when we can’t have the windows wide open?
Outside, once the bulbs are in full bloom, we are all in the garden checking to see our favourite perennials starting to come through, and how much moss there is in the lawn. (Relax, it’s the West Highlands, everyone has moss in their lawns).
Every year, the first heady days of spring make us all want to throw the windows wide open, scrub, refresh, refurb and recycle; it’s like we have come out of hibernation.
Smartening up a property before putting it on the market
is just plain old common sense.
Make sure your home is not only looking its best but also that the host of tiny jobs have been sorted out. On their own they aren’t significant but together, be it a dripping tap, a broken door handle or a scuff in the plaster work, they all conspire to drag down the look and feel of the place.
Even if you are not planning to move it pays to carry out a ‘house audit’ in the spring; cast a critical eye around and plan your repairs and refurbishments for the coming spring and summer.
Never forget that your home is your family’s biggest asset so keeping it in excellent condition makes sound financial sense.
Perhaps you’ve spent the winter planning a major improvement or extension.
