Squash club spokesperson Jackie Kersley said: ‘Oban Squash Club would like to say a massive thank you to MacQueen Bros Charitable Trust, for its very kind and generous donation of £1,000 to our junior squash club.’

‘MacQueen’s continued support of our squash club is greatly appreciated by all at the club,’ added Kersley.

Robin MacQueen presented the cheque to junior squash head coach Lesley Fraser at Atlantis Leisure, supported by her squash helpers Kenny Drummond and Grant Addison and the junior players.

‘Junior squash is the lifeblood of the rapidly growing Oban Squash Club,’ said Mr MacQueen.

‘Much of the success of that growth is down to a fantastic support team and their remarkable commitment to the club.’

The opening match of the senior squash season saw Oban gents’ team victorious, beating Fort William 13-2. The next match will be in Fort William in April and will continue right through on a monthly basis until November.

Oban Ladies travelled down to Glasgow last Saturday to take part in the inaugural Scotstoun ladies’ squash tournament. Twenty-two women, representing seven different clubs around Scotland, featured in Scotland’s first adult bronze event. The day featured strong performances with Kerry Delaney, Charmaine Love and Fiona Campbell all finishing in the top 10. The most notable result of the day was Nicola Morgan narrowly missing out on the final but winning her playoff to finish third overall. A great achievement for the club.

Oban ladies train on Monday nights from 6.20pm 9pm at Atlantis Leisure. Beginners and new members welcome.
