Musical treats lined up on Skye
Two of Skye and Lochalsh’s most popular performance groups, Lorayne McLucas Performing Arts Academy and the Skye and Lochalsh Orchestra, visit Sabhal Mòr Ostaig this month as part of SEALL’s spring programme.
On Saturday March 23, at 2pm and 7pm, Lorayne McLucas’s enthusiastic and talented young performers present an Oliver! extravaganza.
Oliver! is one of the most beloved British musicals, vividly bringing to life Dickens’s timeless characters with its ever-popular story of the boy who asked for more.
The young performers are joined by some professional actors and a singer to present the singing repertoire from the show along with some scenes.
The performances take place in TDC main hall.
Also visiting TDC main hall is the Skye and Lochalsh Orchestra which celebrates the Fifth Symphony in a classical concert. The programme includes music by Mendelssohn, Overture to a Midsummer Night’s Dream; Mahler, Adagietto from the 5th Symphony; Mozart, 5th Symphony; and Beethoven, 5th Symphony.
The orchestra includes more than 30 players from across Skye and Lochalsh, with occasional guest performers, under the baton of Iain Roden.
The concert takes place on Saturday March 30 at 7.30pm and tickets for all events are available from SEALL at www.seall.co.uk.
