Project will illuminate autumn

The nights and mornings are definitely getting darker and colder just now but the colours that autumn brings make it all worth it.

And there is still so much to look forward to in the nine weeks leading up to... Christmas...there, I’ve said it, the ‘C’ word.

I’ve been scowling at the Christmas stuff in Tesco since August but now that it’s October I’m happy to start getting excited and looking forward to it.

Before that, though, there are lots of events happening which will light up the town beginning next Tuesday, October 22, with the Shine a Light project at the Black Lynn and the tree outside The Rockfield Centre.

I’ve been looking forward to this for ages, watching the work taking place and getting a brief glimpse of what it’s going to be like.

The official switch-on will be like a wee alfresco party in Stevenson Street with Councillor Elaine Robertson switching on the lights.

Oban FM will be in attendance and soup, sausage rolls and pies will be available, thanks to Iain Darling and The Lorne pub. What more could a body ask for on an autumn evening?

The lights will create a lovely feature of the burn and the trees creating an area that everyone can enjoy as it brightens up the dark evenings and mornings.

I think it will complement the lovely lights round the bay and McCaig’s tower and hopefully as the project progresses other areas of the town can benefit from the Shine a Light project and be illuminated and beautified.
