And they called it Yellow...call to artists

-

This year’s programme at An Tobar Gallery has included exhibitions by artists whose works have explored aspects of the relationship between humans and the environment.

This relationship is the spark behind a new exhibition being planned by the team at An Tobar.

The world’s weather patterns are changing and everyone is becoming increasingly aware of this.

In 2003 artist Olufar Eliasson exhibited The Weather Project at Tate Modern, in which the space was bathed in yellow light. The summer temperatures in Europe that year were at a record high.

This year Eliasson exhibited again at the Tate Modern. He has posted photographs on his website showing the final disappearance of a glacier in his native Iceland, the result of global temperature increase.

The summer temperatures in Europe were again at a record high, quite a powerful coincidence.

The team at An Tobar is using this link to the Yellow of the original Weather Project as a basis for the theme for this year’s An Tobar open exhibition. The theme YELLOW is open to free interpretation by the artist.

Entries are welcomed from artists and craftspeople from Mull and Iona, Argyll and Bute, and previous exhibitors at An Tobar.

Work in a variety of media is acceptable including: painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, textiles, ceramics, jewellery, digital and electronic media.

This will be an ‘art for sale’ exhibition; work accepted for YELLOW will be exhibited in the galleries, shop and café at An Tobar.

Entry forms are available from the website (http:// www.comar.co.uk/whats-on/ call-artists-yellow) and from the café at An Tobar.

The exhibition will run from November 2-December 21 at An Tobar in Tobermory, Mull.
