Oban staff win healthcare Oscars
Healthcare Oscars have been awarded to three Oban workers, including a midwife, a physiotherapist and a hospital porter.
Star staff were honoured at an excellence awards ceremony earlier this month to recognise the exceptional Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) workers who have performed over and above expectations.
It was the awards’ third year after a wide range of nominations were received from fellow colleagues and the public.
Oban senior midwife Katherine Henderson won Nurse/Midwife of the Year sponsored by SGE Argyll Hotel; Therapist of the Year sponsored by KJ Window Cleaning went to Oban physiotherapist Gemma Bruce; and Lorn and Islands Hospital porter Willie Gemmell was named Support Worker of the Year, sponsored by JH Gutter Vacuuming.
Elizabeth Higgins, lead nurse for Argyll and Bute HSCP, said: ‘Health and social care staff across Argyll and Bute are providing a first-class service to their communities every day, and we feel it is important they are recognised for their hard work and dedication to our patients and service users.
‘The staff excellence awards highlight the care and commitment of HSCP staff across the organisation, and provides an opportunity for colleagues, patients and members of the public to say thank you and show their appreciation by nominating staff.
‘I was again really delighted by the high standard, number of nominations and positive comments that our staff received and I would therefore like to congratulate all the winners on their enthusiasm and commitment to the public across Argyll and Bute who are served by the HSCP.’
