Islay – United Auctions on Thursday October 17 sold 278 calves. 137 Bullock calves averaged £675.95 (-£15.61) to £1010 for a 398Kg Lim cross from Ardnave Farm and averaged 229.58p/kg (+1p) to 304p/kg for two 296kg Lim crosses from Ardnave. 141 heifer calves averaged £595.32 (+£14.94) to £900 for a 340kg Lim cross from Ardnave and averaged 209.67p/kg (n/c) to 287p/kg for a 272kg Lim cross also from Ardnave Farm. A good following of mainland buyers ensured all stock sold at levels above sellers expectatio­ns. The entry of calves were mainly spring born and were of superior quality. Leading prices per head. Oban – United Auctions on Wednesday October 16 held a sale of 215 shearlings and 30 ram lambs of all breeds. Quality rams were keenly bid for resulting in a very good clearance.
