Fort William FC announce changes to 300 Club account

-

Problems with accessing bank accounts has resulted in a decision by Fort William FC to relaunch a new weekly/ monthly draw.

In a statement to the Lochaber Times, club chairman Peter Murphy told us:

‘I write regarding our 300 Club which has run for many years and been an excellent fundraiser over the years.

‘At the time of the change of board office bearers last summer we had a significant problem with the bank regarding access to accounts, particularly the 300 Club account.

‘This has been an ongoing problem since, which has led to a formal complaint to the bank for its handling of the matter.

‘During this time we have been unable to carry out the monthly draws as we could not see who was still paying into it. This has reached the point now where was cannot see this being resolved in the short term.

‘So to reach a conclusion in this matter and give the club the opportunity to re-launch a new weekly/ monthly draw we intend to close the account. This will stop any further standing orders paying into the account.

‘We propose the following option with the funds that have accumulated over this time: 300 Club members can contact us on 07971 441180 or by e-mailing fortwilliamfc@ highlandleague.com if you would like a refund of payments made since the last draw.

‘To finalise this issue, if a refund is not requested by Thursday, November 21, 2019, at 5pm, we will deem these payments as donations to the club.’
