Pipes and voices will be raising the roof – and funds – in Oban later this month.

Oban Gaelic Choir, Oban Pipe Band and Oban High School Traditional School of Music are teaming up to hold a big fundraising event this St Andrew's Day.

Proceeds from the Big St Andrew's Bash on Saturday November 30 from 7.30pm at the Argyllshire Gathering Halls will be split between the three organisations.

The event is being run in association with and support from Oban Winter Festival and Event Scotland.

Tickets are £7 with concessions at £5. Family of four tickets, two adults with two children, are available for £20.

There will be performances from all the three groups and also from the evening's special guests – Oban High School Pipe Band – followed by dancing the night away to Trad award-winning ceilidh band Deoch ‘n’ Dorus.

A raffle will also be drawn on the night with lots of prizes to be won, including boat trips and vouchers for hotels, restaurants and shops. To be in with a lucky chance, tickets are on sale at Oban Music shop in Argyll Square, from choir and band members, and will be available on the night.

Tickets for the bash can also be booked online from the Winter Festival's webpage at obanwinterfestival.com.

Money raised from the event will be used to help the groups with running costs, including transport.

Last month Oban's Gaelic

Choir returned from this year's Mòd in Glasgow with the prestigious Lovat and Tullibardine Shield.

Conductor of the Oban Gaelic Choir Sìleas Sinclair said: 'We are looking forward to what we hope will be a great night out for the town and are very grateful to Oban Winter Festival and Event Scotland for making it possible.'
