Film crew thank islanders’ patience over disruption

-

Local residents and businesses are asked to note that there may be minor disruption to traffic in some locations next week in Stornoway while the production team for the film Wise Blood continues shooting footage at various Lewis locations.

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar has been working closely with the production to facilitate the filming activity, which started at the beginning of the month, while ensuring minimum disruption locally.

The affected areas next week are as follows:

Monday November 25: morning – parking South Beach Street, Stornoway; afternoon – traffic control, North Beach Street to South Beach Street.

Thursday November 28: traffic control Cromwell Street, Stornoway.

The production team would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused by this activity and a donation will be made to local community causes in gratitude at the patience and welcome extended by islanders.

A spokesperson for the comhairle said: ‘We are delighted that Wise Blood has chosen to come to Lewis to make this film and warmly welcome the cast and crew for the duration of their stay here.

‘The investment such productions bring in terms of spend and job opportunities is significant, as well as the added benefit of promoting our islands on the global stage.

‘However, we do recognise that while the filming activity is ongoing there can be low-level disruption for local residents and we are grateful for people’s patience and co-operation with that aspect of the project.’

Wise Blood is being co-directed by Belgian director, actor and author Bouli Lanners and Flemish Peaky Blinders director, Tim Mielants.

The film is a love story set in the heart of a Presbyterian community and the spectacular Lewis scenery.

Playing the lead roles, are Michelle Fairley, best known for her role as Catelyn Stark in Game of Thrones, Julian Glover (Game of Thrones, Indiana Jones) and Clovis Cornillac (Little Tickles, Radiostars and Bellamy).
