Lochaber Rotary Club’s 12th annual Designer Craft and Food Fair opens its doors at 9.30am in the Nevis Centre in Fort William this Saturday, November 30, and promises to be a sparkling festive event, with 70 stalls displaying local exhibitors’ craft work and food produce.

The Cairngorm Reindeer Parade, with Santa and his helpers, arrives at Cameron Square at 10.30am, with the parade itself starting at 11am and travelling along the High Street, led by the Lochaber Pipe Band and the Ben Nevis All Stars cheerleaders, to reach the Nevis Centre at midday and open Santa’s grotto.

In addition, the popular Buskers’ Corner in the foyer will deliver non-stop musical entertainment with a range of versatile performers, and the bouncy castle and the Light Garden Café will both be open all day.

This year the grand raffle offers five spectacular prizes, including a special collection of six aged classic malts, a £70 meal voucher for the Crannog Restaurant, a two-night all-inclusive hotel break, and festive hampers from both

Marks and Spencer and the Nevisbridge Woollen Mill.

Club president Clive Talbot commented: ‘This is now established as Lochaber’s premier annual event. It is aimed at locals as well as visitors, and attracts nearly 3,000 people, many of whom use it as their main Christmas shopping venue.

‘Why have all the stress of travelling to Inverness or Glasgow when you can enjoy this on your own doorstep?’

The Lochaber Times is delighted to sponsor the Santa’s Little Elves competition and looks forward to welcoming the winners – Phoebe MacDonald, aged seven, from Mallaig Primary and Poppy Geddes, eight, from Lady Lovat Primary – on the day.
