Oban quiz-lovers raise vital cash for Tear Fund

-

For the second year running, Oban quiz-lovers have helped raised vital cash for charity.

Oban Baptist Church hosted Tear Fund Big Quiz Night in the Corran Halls during the Winter Festival, with 136 people taking part in the quiz. They included members of Oban's churches, friends and families, members of Oban community and the surrounding areas, who enjoyed an evening together of brain searching, fun and tea and cakes.

The Choc Shop team took first place with an excellent score of 63.5 out of 80, with the Fred team second with 61 out of 80. All the tables chose a name for their own table – the best table name chosen was Willy and The Wonkies and the funniest table name was Dazed and Confused!

Quiz organiser Mary Black said: 'We would like to thank all who helped in making this event such a success.

'We would like to thank the businesses who contributed items for our fundraising mini-auction – Saffron/ Millstone Foods, BID4Oban/ Love Oban vouchers, Alba Arts Shop, Highland Fasteners, Cafe Harris, Costa Cafe, Pets at Home, Bookers, Homebase, Hope Kitchen, Specsavers.

'We'd also like to thank Maree and friends and others who contributed to this fundraiser, and to those who provided baking and tablet for the table top sale and provided for the participants teas.

'And thanks to those who gave money donations. Our thanks to the Corran Halls staff who were so helpful during the preparation, selling tickets etc, and for all their help at the event.'
