Lochaber Environmental Group: Feeling the chill yet?

Did you wait out Storm Brendan last week listening to the wind whistling through your house?

Does every cold spell leave you chilly in the morning? Do heating bills give you the shivers? Life doesn’t have to be like that.

LEG is once again offering free home energy surveys across Lochaber all winter. Our thermal imaging cameras are a great way of finding draughts, missing insulation and other features invisible to the eye.

We can also use our electricity monitors to see exactly where your bill is going and help you save energy.

We can provide basic draught proofing strips, which can really help keep the warmth in, and provide an LED light bulb too.

The bulb is just 6W but is as bright as an old fashioned 60W, costs 1p for more than 10 hours of light and will last for a decade – a great way to minimise usage.

There are many ways to reduce bills and improve comfort – reducing the waste from draughts and missing insulation is one of the best, and a really low cost to get started.

Many houses can make improvements with no investment at all, just small changes that have a big impact.

Of course, checking the Big Energy Saving Week section is a great place to gather information for big projects, but if you want a visit in your home and some personal advice then get in touch.
