Hard work helps Otters achieve personal goals

-

Six Oban Otters travelled to Grangemouth for the level 2 MAGs meet last weekend and returned with seven personal bests. Andrew Boyle, Ewan Dowd, Edie Elliott, Tayler Robinson, Abby McQueen and Joel Robinson all made the tough consideration times for their events and did both their club and the town proud in the process.

Head coach Amanda Coates said: ‘I am delighted for the swimmers. The results are a testament to all the hard work at training.’

Youngest swimmer Joel Robinson took four seconds from his 100m freestyle personal best, with sister Tayler also getting a personal best in the 100m back crawl, with a delighted dad cheering them all the way from the spectators’ area.

Despite a knee injury, Andrew Boyle swam a personal best in the 100m front crawl, building on his recent success by taking 2.5 seconds from his 100m back crawl time at the West District long course championship at Tollcross.

Oban Lorne U14s played two back-to-back matches against Lochaber on Sunday January 19, at Oban, and Saturday January 25, at Banavie.

Both games were 60 minutes long, and were played on each club’s main pitch, in perfect weather and underfoot conditions.

In the first match, a depleted Lochaber team endured a right old drubbing. In the second match on their home ground, Lochaber fared much better. Although beaten again, they never gave up, contested well, and towards the end, matched their opponents.
