The Buzz is back in Lochaber
The Buzz Project celebrated its return by staging a gig at Studio 2 in Fort William with performances from Radio Blu and Rockskool.
The mission of the project is to enable 14-to-25-year-olds to learn how to properly express themselves, build self-confidence and learn new skills.
Their main location is Studio 2 next to The Parade in Fort William, where they have a multi-purpose space with music and games equipment that can be rented out three nights a week.
Studio 1 is the main office and recording studio but, owing to a lot of people not being able to get to Fort William easily, the Buzz Bus travels to outlying areas to get people involved in music.
A converted bus that has a seating area with tea and coffee facilities, the Buzz Bus has a recording studio in the rear with an electric drum kit, guitars and a mixing deck.
Owing to the challenge of finding drivers for the bus, it has not been out as much recently, but with a driver now secured and roads much clearer, the team is hoping to get the bus out to areas like Ballachulish, Mallaig, Spean Bridge and areas of Ardnamurchan for the first time.
Janis Strachan, a Buzz Project volunteer, said: ‘It was a great turnout on the night of the gig and brilliant to see so much young talent in our local area. We are hoping to have another gig at the end of March with West Highland College, so stay tuned.’
