KINLOCHLEVEN
The Kinlochleven Community Benefit Fund has announced projects that will gain funding following the first round of applications.
The fund gets money from the two hydro-electric schemes in the village, giving it £37,000 per year to distribute amongst community projects.
It considered 14 different applications amounting to £57,000 in total, so was only able to approve seven, with one application for the football club deferred until further information was gained.
It was able to distribute more than £20,000 in donations to the following village groups.
The Kinlochleven Bowling Club and Community Trust both received £5,000 in principle, pending satisfactory receipt of further information. The bowling club wants to put the money towards green rejuvenation and the trust is putting the money towards its multi-activity centre.
South Lochaber Community Company received £4,500 in principle for community transport around the area.
A further £2,000 is being put towards buying and maintaining village Christmas lights.
Kinloch Tots received £2,194 for a shed and equipment for craft play, along with parents’ mental health sessions.
Tot Tunes, which gets under-fives interested in music through group activities with parents, received funding for hall hire.
A further round of applications will be available in May for allocation in July with around £15,000 available to be distributed. The fund is topped up by £35,000 each year from Green Hydro Renewables which is allocated across three funding rounds each year.
