Alleycats purr their way to scratch division title

Alleycats are scratch division winners after the final week of the Lochaber Building Supplies ten pin bowling leagues at the Nevis Centre, Fort William.

They won the title with 66 out of a possible 70 points. Team With A Bowling Problem were in second place with 49 points followed by Peaky Bowlers with 48 points.

The handicap division was much closer with Peaky Bowlers coming out on top with 48 points. Alleycats were second with 46 points and British Legion Fort William third with 41 points.

Individual­ly there were three scratch games during the season above the magic 200 mark – the best coming from Steve Day, Team With A Bowling Problem, with 215.

The other two were a 211 from Ron Gretton, Retrovator­s, and a 208 from Pam Weller, Alleycats.

The top two game scratch series of the season came from Pam Weller with 387, whilst the top handicap game of 264 and the top two game handicap series of 486 both came from Colin Pinkett, Council.

The best team games of the season came from Alleycats which had the top scratch game of 671, Council which had the top handicap game of 916 and the top two game handicap series of 1,787. Team With A Bowling Problem had the top two game scratch series of 1,238. The top scratch averages over the season were 153 by Pam Weller, followed by Steve Day with 147 and Tony Whitelocke, Alleycats, on 146.

In the final week of play, the top individual scratch game came from Colin Pinkett with a 196. Nick Richardson, Alleycats, had a 180 and a 174 and Ron Gretton had a 171.

Nick Richardson also had the top two-game scratch series of 354 whilst Colin Pinkett had the top handicap game of 264 – the season high – and the top two-game handicap series of 464.

Also in the final week, the best team scores came from Alleycats with the top scratch game of 604 and the top two game scratch series of 1,193, whilst Peaky Bowlers had the top handicap game of 823 and the top two-game handicap series of 1,586.
