Third Sector community support

-

Argyll and Bute Third Sector Interface (TSI) is urging community groups to make use of the Third Sector Resilience Fund (TSRF) which opened for applications last week, writes Fiona Scott.

The primary intention of the £20 million emergencey fund is to help third sector organisations to stabilise and manage cash flows over this difficult period.

Charities, community groups, social enterprises and voluntary organisations working in Scotland can all apply for support which has been set up to aid organisations that already deliver services and products but find themselves in financial difficulties directly as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Jakki Spicer, engagement manager for Argyll and Bute TSI, said: ‘We know how difficult this time is for many third sector organisations in the area, as they race to provide additional support to vulnerable members of the community while maintaining social distancing measures, mobilise and manage resources and volunteers, and support their own staff.

‘Meanwhile, revenue generating activities such as classes, group meetings, and outings have ceased.

‘We have seen a tremendous response, but know that the added demands will mean that third sector organisations are going to struggle in the coming months, and the TSRF is an important tool to help sustain the work of these organisations and to keep them running, especially now, as they are so needed.’

The fund will be delivered by Firstport, Social Investment Scotland and the Corra Foundation, and will provide grants between £5,000 and £100,000. In addition, there will be up to a further £5m available in fully flexible, zero per cent interest loans starting at £50,000.

To be eligible, interested organisations must be a charity, social enterprise or voluntary organisation based in Scotland and/or primarily delivering services/activities in Scottish communities; already delivering those products or services prior to March 2020; and needing funding to stabilise cashflows directly as a result of the impact of COVID-19, as opposed to pre-existing financial difficulties.

Interested applicants are encouraged to read the fund’s guidance notes and FAQs prior to starting an application.

Argyll and Bute TSI is available to help third sector organisations navigate the application process for the TSRF, and also has a COVID-19 Resources section on the website (www.argylltsi.org/covid19.html), which includes information on available funding. Please call 0300 303 4141 or email: support@argylltsi.org.uk with any questions or concerns.

‘We’re here to help,’ added Ms Spicer.
