A model example during crisis

-

Model makers from across the country have been displaying their creations on social media following the cancellation of the annual Lochaber Model and Crafts Show.

Scheduled to take place last Saturday, May 2, the event was cancelled in mid March but event organiser Robert Wilson was keen to show some of the exhibits and raise money for charity.

‘I was thinking of how the show could still do something to support the area,’ said Robert Wilson who was concerned charities and organisations would miss out on funding that usually comes via donations from the show.

‘I came up with the idea of making a model of an NHS Highland lorry to auction with the money raised going to the Belford Hospital.’

Following frenzied bidding via the Lochaber Model and Crafts Show Facebook page on Saturday, a winning bid of £250 was made by Harry Davidson

Robert’s NHS Lorry sold for £250, while his slightly smaller Mercedes vans are now up for sale.

of Thurso. Other donations mean the total raised so far is almost £400.

A virtual show also place over the weekend.

‘A massive thank you to all the contributors,’ added Robert who is also selling small NHS Mercedes vans at £20, the proceeds of which will also go to the hospital.

‘I am still accepting donations and will let everyone took know how raised.’

To donate or to buy a van contact Robert through the Lochaber Model and Craft Show Facebook page.

A new show date has been provisionally booked for Saturday October 17. Organisers will be in touch with exhibitors and crafters to give everyone who was confirmed for May the first options for tables. much we have
