Mull artists raise money for COVID fund

-

A Mull couple have drawn on their resources to raise £500 for the island’s Community COVID-19 Emergency Fund.

Artists Ronnie Leckie and Aska Marzec-Leckie from The Picture Gallery on Main Street, Tobermory donated an original Isle of Mull painting titled Sunbeams Loch na Keal and two limited edition prints to their crowdfunding efforts and needless to say the artwork drew quite a lot of attention.

People were invited to donate to the page and in doing so were entered into a prize draw to win the paintings. The painting itself was done by Aska and had a value of £350 with the two prints worth £55 each.

‘We are very pleased that we were able to support this great cause and would like to say a huge thank you for all the support from the community either by donating to or sharing the campaign. It all helps, what an amazing community spirit.’

The winners were announced on The Picture Gallery Facebook page on Thursday May 14 with the original painting being won by Laura, who said: ‘I can’t believe it. I never win anything, I’m so happy. The painting is beautiful and the place means so much to me as I spent most of my childhood there.’

Aska added: ‘We are ecstatic that we could make their day and beyond. They can now enjoy the artwork on their walls and escape to the Loch na Keal any time.

Aska and Ronnie are currently working from home and The Picture Gallery remains open online. To see more artwork visit www.ronnieleckie.com or www.scottishislandart.com
