Open invite to online Pride at Home party
Oban Pride 2020 is moving online with members of the LGBT community and their supporters invited to tune in, tune up and get involved.
From noon on Saturday, May 30, Pride at Home will be getting into full swing on the Oban Pride Facebook page, kicking off with a smorgasbord of musical treats to suit all tastes before launching into a fun quiz for everybody to enjoy.
Oban Pride chairman Phill Dexter told us: ‘The committee were deeply saddened when on March 16 we had to hold an emergency meeting to make a decision on Oban Pride 2020 due to COVID-19, the outcome of this meeting as you all know was to postpone the event until 2021.
‘Since that meeting, however, we have been working hard, having regular video meeting via Zoom and we are now delighted to announce Oban Pride at Home.
‘It’s hard that we can’t all be together at the moment and we were very much looking forward to Oban Pride 2020.
‘We hope you can all join us in one of our virtual activities to mark the day and we look forward to seeing everyone at events soon.’
On Saturday May 30, when they were due to come together in celebration, Pride supporters are now being given the opportunity to join the Oban branch for two at home activities.
From noon people can listen to the official Oban Pride Spotify playlist, Oban Pride 2020 – Let’s Party.
‘We invite everyone to join in by enjoying this playlist in their own homes, you are also invited to send us requests of songs that remind you of Pride to our Facebook page for us to add,’ said Phill.
Let’s Get Quizzical begins at 7.45pm (quiz starts at 8pm) on both the Oban Pride Facebook and Twitter pages, both will be hosted by OP poster girl Crystal and the quiz is suitable for everybody. All you need to join in the live event is pen and paper.
