Lochaber Chamber of Commerce, the custodians of The Outdoor Capital of the UK (OCUK) destination organisation, want to provide you and our future visitors, or temporary locals, with a warm Highland welcome and an exceptional experience during your stay, adventure or trip with us in Lochaber.
We want everyone across our region and further to enjoy their time exploring and enjoying the sights, adventure, businesses and hospitality that we offer, but we will need to work together to help the visitor economy to recover and for the impact to be managed.
This includes our desire for visitors to feel like they are temporary locals, enjoying where they are visiting, staying, what they are experiencing and importantly, respecting and caring for the community they are in.
Visitors, tourism businesses and communities have already begun planning ahead: their potential day trip, overnight stays, reopening measures, community impact and sustainability.
The Chamber will continue to engage with businesses, communities and our potential visitors across our platforms and using The Outdoor Capital of the UK destination organisation to share updates, signpost important guidance and provide reminders to PLAN, ENJOY and PROTECT.
The recent announcement of the ‘Good to Go’ scheme is a positive step to provide businesses and visitors with confidence that their accommodation has taken the necessary steps to be safe for your arrival and we would urge businesses to continue sharing your advice, if you’re open and when and what you expect from your customers.
Enjoyment of Lochaber and being safe doing so has now more than ever needed to be hand in hand.
Businesses have been working hard to ensure safe measures are in place, our NHS services are prepared but we must ensure that physical distancing is observed, that frequent cleaning rituals are continued and that the Scottish Outdoor Access Code is observed as well as business guidance when you are staying, partaking in activity or accessing walks and paths.
We will work together as communities, businesses and so will future visitors to ensure that we’re safe and the environmental impact is kept to a minimum.
VisitScotland have recently announced their renewed plans for preparing visitors for visiting and enjoying Scotland as a whole and will be sharing these messages using the hashtag #RespectProtectEnjoy.
