Amy is a cut above
Amy Cameron is proving herself to be heads and shoulders above the rest, writes Kathie Griffiths.
The aspiring hairdresser has just been named the 2020 Schools Link Student of the Year for the Oban area.
Amy recently completed Argyll College’s Skills for Work Hairdressing course at
The Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework Level 4.
Tutor Lisa Johnston, nominated Amy, said award was well-deserved.
She said: ‘Throughout the academic year Amy has consistently produced both written and practical work of the highest standard, she has worked above and beyond the requirements of the course.
‘Amy used her time in class to continue developing her skills, regularly discussing and who the demonstrating the skills she was learning in her place of work with a passion that shows she will do very well working in the hairdressing industry,’ she said.
Oban High School head teacher Peter Bain said: ‘Being awarded the Schools Link Student of the Year is a fitting tribute to her hard work and dedication towards her studies.
‘I’m sure the recognition of her talent and commitment will propel her to further success. It is also fitting to thank her tutor for the support and encouragement provided to achieve such high standards and praise.’
Amy added: ‘I’m so thankful that I was able to receive this award, I wouldn’t have been able to do it without my friends from Trinity Hairdressers and my hairdressing tutor Lisa. Thank you very much.’
