WHERE IS THIS?

The first Christmas window has appeared in Button Nose Boutique and it’s an absolute cracker.

I’d usually think it’s a bit early, but this year anything that cheers things up is a huge plus and I think we all feel the same. I mentioned the Shine Bright Scotland Facebook page a few weeks ago and it inspired me to go and buy some wee Christmas lights for beside my front door which will be going out this week.

It’s that time of year when the shops get all Christmassy and to encourage as much participation as possible among businesses in the town BID4Oban is running a competition for Christmas windows and displays, for those who don’t have a window. First prize is £50, second is £30 and third is £20. It would be fantastic if as many businesses as possible were ready for November 19 which is the first of the late night shopping evenings, with judging starting the week of December 7. I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with this year. Don’t forget to get in touch with BID4Oban on 01631 569915 or email admin@bid4oban.co.uk to let us know you’re taking part. We’ll also be sharing as many photographs as possible on the LoveOban Facebook page.

It’s not going to be our usual Christmas this year, which I think we’ve all accepted, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make it beautiful, bright and merry.

The photograph last week, sent in by Margaret PowellJoss, was Rangatira Place, running from Farmfoods to beside Coasters – I hadn’t known its name until now. This week’s is one of my own and perhaps a bit easier.
