Spread a little hope this festive season
As Christmas time approaches, Hope Kitchen is sending out a reminder to anyone who is still wanting to help others less fortunate.
The Oban charity is again providing families and individuals with food and gift hampers this year to help make Christmas feel more merry for those who are finding this festive season particularly challenging.
The Covid-19 pandemic has meant that for some there is very little money for the basics, let alone little luxuries over the festive season.
Hope Kitchen manager Catriona Petit said: ‘If you are in a position to donate, your help would be very much appreciated. We are looking for non-perishable items to go with Christmas dinner such as stuffing, gravy, cranberry jelly, chutneys, custard and Christmas puddings; Christmas treats such as chocolates and savoury snacks; gifts for adults and children and wrapping paper.
‘Please don’t wrap the items as we will either wrap them at Hope Kitchen or leave the children’s presents for parents or carers to wrap themselves. ‘You can deliver items to Hope Kitchen between 10am and 4pm or use Tesco or Lidl’s collection baskets. Also, if you or someone you know would appreciate a Christmas hamper please get in touch. Your enquiry will be treated confidentially.
‘Each Christmas hamper will have three days supply of basic food items, all the non-perishable Christmas meal items, Christmas treats and gifts for adults and where there are children in the family gifts for them too.
‘We are collecting until Wednesday December 9 – although if you can’t manage by then we can accept donations until Monday December 14. Hampers will be delivered between December 7 and December 18.’
