HO, HO, HO, a very healthy New Year to all

-

Healthy Options (HO) held a series of Christmas gatherings in December in order to thank their clients and staff for the exceptional effort into maintaining mental and physical wellbeing during the most difficult of years, writes Fiona Scott.

Held at Atlantis Leisure, HO clients were invited to take part in a socially distanced get together held over three days in order to adhere to government guidlines. Mince pies and coffee were enjoyed, with Christmas jumpers a must. Staff and volunteers joined in the festive fun, with some going above and beyond in terms of outfits.

The charity works with people who have, or are at risk of developing, life-long health conditions, and since the start of Covid restrictions back in March it has worked tirelessly to develop and deliver a range of online resources to help the Healthy Options community.

These consisted of a daily Message from Mull, Exercise for the Day and video content that relates directly to the Healthy Options programme, such as Education and Move Well classes.

Emma Grant, HO project manager and fundraiser, told us: ‘We would like to sing the praises of all our clients who quietly continued to support themselves, their friends and their neighbours as much as they were able to over this challenging year.

‘Self-care included walking or cycling in our beautiful surroundings while others were restricted to their gardens or houses for their exercise; self-care also meant reaching out to others with a phone call or perhaps with some fresh produce being dropped at a neighbours door.

‘As we approach 2021, we see more challenges ahead, but are excited as to what innovations the year will bring and look forward to our time together, in person or on line.’

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, and subsequent implications, Lorn and Oban Healthy Options has reviewed its referral pathway. All clients MUST be referred by either their GP, Health Care Professional or Pharmacist.

Please speak with your relevant qualified health contact if you would like their support. Visit www.lornhealthyoptions.co.uk for more information.
