Mull producers’ outdoor market pride

-

Tobermory has enjoyed the last of its open air markets for 2020 keeping the community connected safely during Covid.

The outdoor markets have helped raised just under £4,000 for the Aros Hall.

Market Co-ordinator Alicia Hendrick said: ‘So proud that we were able to run these outdoor markets and help folk locally to see their neighbours from a social distance, and create a safe space to buy and sell for local producers and customers.

‘We have raised just under £4,000 for the Aros Hall. The hall is at the heart of Tobermory and community owned.’

The open air producers’ markets were set up by the Aros Hall Committee to run for 11 weeks every Monday 11am-2pm at the harbour, next to the pontoons overlooking Tobermory Bay.

Alicia said: ‘We then transferred to the heart of Tobermory outside the Aros Hall and The Gallery to hold three Christmas markets. The first two of those were part of Tobermory’s Socially Distanced Shopping Weekend. We were very happy to be able to promote the wonderful local produce from the Isle of Mull.

‘We are grateful for funding from The Supporting Communities Fund, The Waterfall Fund and for the support from Tobermory Harbour Association (THA) and their team.

‘Thanks also to White Tails Gin, Tobermory Distillery, Carolyn Charrington, Chris Swinbank, Will Thorne, Dr Sam Jones, Alasdair McCrone, Katie McCrone, Robert Chalmers, Jamie Robb, Brian and Lorraine Jones, Dylan Cobban, Barbara Brown, members of the Aros Hall Committee and all the stallholders,’ added Alicia.
