Community council round-up

Rubbish has been lying on the slip at Ellenabeich on Seil for three months now, awaiting collection by Argyll and Bute Council.

Seil and Easdale Community Council discussed this and other waste matters at their latest meeting.

Problems with dog mess around the island are also getting worse and residents are to blame – because there are no tourists.

The community council is reminding people to pick up after their pets and has decided to contact Argyll and Bute Council’s dog warden, warning action may be taken against repeat offenders.

Seil Island Hall committee also noted its disappointment at dog owners allowing their pets to foul the sports pitch.

‘With the current lockdown, these are presumably locals, showing complete disregard for other users, including children. The community council has contacted the dog warden about this problem which seems to be getting worse,’ said the meeting’s report.

On a more positive note, youngsters have taken part in an organised litter pick at Seaview and a rubbish bin has been provided at the bus stop.

Fallen down signs in Ellenabeich have been reported to Argyll and Bute Council. Worries over cracks in the road at Clachan Bridge are to be looked at and other potholes have been reported and repaired.

And the community council has told a recent consultation run by Argyll and Bute Council that it wants to stay in the Oban ward and not be placed in a new island ward with Tiree, Coll and Mull.
