Broken phone mast signals trouble in Dalmally area

-

Six weeks of hit-and-miss phone signals are likely to continue for remote living customers in the Dalmally area, writes Kathie Griffiths.

Vodafone and O2 customers are being plagued by long-running problems with no solution yet.

People in the Bridge of Orchy and Tyndrum communities have also been struggling with the unreliable service, prompting lots of frustrated complaints to the providers.

Vodafone says it is experiencing technical issues with two of its sites and is working hard to fix them but cannot say when repairs will be completed.

‘We’re sorry that some of our customers in the Dalmally, Bridge of Orchy and Tyndrum areas have been experiencing problems with our coverage in recent weeks. This is due to technical issues with two of our sites in the area, and we are working hard to fix these as soon as possible,’ said a Vodafone spokesperson.

John Kerr, chairman of Glenorchy and Innishail Community Council, says up to six masts are believed to be ‘down’ in the area ‘and there does not seem to be any urgency to fix them’. ‘Lots of complaints to the providers but nothing happening,’ he added.

Diane Harvey, who works in Glenview Store in Dalmally, said the situation was driving people ‘crazy’.

‘Everyone keeps coming into the shop asking if we know what’s going on – we don’t. People are getting annoyed because getting any signal is so hit and miss – it’s been about six weeks now.

‘You see people pulling up to the hotel in their cars just to try and make calls because they seem to get a signal there. It’s just crazy,’ she said.

Diane, who has a Tesco phone with O2, said when she complained and asked for a refund she was promised she would get money back.

O2 was asked for a comment but there was no response at the time of going to press.
