Colonsay’s only hotel for sale
The only hotel and restaurant on the Isle of Colonsay has gone on the market for £650,000, writes Ellis Butcher.
The Colonsay Hotel, dating back to the 18th century, boasts nine ‘boutique-style’ bedrooms and suites, along with a bar, conservatory and dining room.
There are also extensive outbuildings and separate staff accommodation, said specialist business property advisor Christie & Co, which is handling the sale.
Brian Sheldon, regional director for hospitality at Christie & Co, said: ‘As the island’s only hotel and pub, the business enjoys excellent occupancy as well as good levels of local trade and is considered to be the hub of the island’s social life. We believe this will be a very successful business for a buyer going into 2021 and beyond.’
Described as ‘charming and award-winning’, The Colonsay Hotel boasts spectacular sea views towards the Isle of Jura.
Dating back to 1750, it has received a number of sympathetic modern extensions over the years, said Christie & Co.
It was bought by the current owners in 2005 and has undergone extensive internal and exterior refurbishment, completed to a high specification.
Christie & Co said the hotel enjoyed strong levels of trade, with Colonsay renowned for having long hours of sunshine and among the best white, sandy beaches in Scotland.
