Stag and Buck hairdressing skills reach new heights

Barbers at Fort William’s Stag and Buck salon are renowned for their ‘height of fashion’ haircuts, but last weekend they took this to a different level, cutting hair on the summit of Ben Nevis.

Taking their work to the top of the UK’s highest mountain, shops owners Terri Nicolson and Sharon Sweeney, along with Nina Walker and Cerys Allan, trekked the 4,413 feet, complete with equipment and models Zander Campbell, Michael Nicolson, Cal Brown and Andrew Carvil, to raise funds for the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

This charity helps critically-ill children and those with life-threatening conditions to fulfil an ambition by organising and funding an event for them.

volunteer models the ‘highest’ quality haircut they have ever had.

Cerys also cut the long locks of Andrew Carvil, to be donated to the Little Princess Trust, which supplies wigs for children and young people who have lost their hair as a result of cancer treatment. Donations are still coming in but, to date, the girls – and boys – have raised £1,500 for the charity.

Terri told the Lochaber Times: ‘We delayed the climb from the week before when heavy rain was predicted and that was certainly the right thing to do as the weather was much better last Sunday.

‘Thanks to everyone who took part and donated money to this very worthwhile cause. We will also be hosting ‘Barbersride 2021’ at the shop this August when a motorcycle convoy tours barbers across the country, also raising money for Make-a-Wish.’
