Couple’s wedding walk snaps with a difference
They are not your usual style of holiday snaps, but for Silke Muys and fiance Kieran Shannon, a series of images in which they appear semiclothed or naked during a long distance walk from Girvan to get married on Skye have a more serious aim.
The couple recently got engaged on Skye and are using their 220-mile ‘wedding pilgrimage’ to promote body positivity.
Silke, 30, and Kieran, 28, who worked as models and dancers before giving it all up to travel the world, now enjoy stripping off and posting images of themselves for their 40,000 Instagram followers at instagram.com/silkyrontheroad
Last week, they reached Glenfinnan as they made their way along the Road to the Isles on their way to the ferry from Mallaig to Skye.
The couple decided to embark on long trek for Silke, who originally hails from Belgium, to become more acquainted with some of Scotland’s most spectacular scenery. ‘Fifteen days in and feeling it but staying happy and loving the journey,’ Kieran told the Lochaber Times.
Silke added: ‘We got engaged three months ago on Skye and the day after thought ‘why don’t we get married on Skye’, then why don’t walk to Skye.’
Kieran continued: ‘Some of the papers kind of exaggerated that we were walking naked all the way to Skye. That’s not correct - we get naked every Friday to post a tasteful shot to promote body positivity.
‘We have had amazing feedback from people thanking us for helping them feel more comfortable in their own skins. Let’s face it, you’ve got to love your own body because that’s the one you’ve been given.’
