The annual Pink Ladies Day twilight sponsored walk was held on Friday, August 27.

Thirty nine women got together to take part and between them raised more than £2,400 with more trickling through.

Organiser Nicky Murphy said: ‘Everyone that came did brilliantly, but the big stars of the evening were Catherine Cain and Karen Cook, daughter and sister (respectively) of Margaret Cain.

‘Margaret was the deputy head teacher at Rockfield Primary School and attended the Pink Ladies Day a few years ago.

‘She had a lovely day with Karen so they did the walk in Margaret’s memory, who sadly passed away last year.

‘I asked my supporters to sponsor Catherine and Karen instead of me and their total The Pink Ladies Day founder and organiser Nicky Murphy, far right. The sponsored walk is organised by Gillian Stewart, in the blue jacket, behind Bailey the dog; and right, Karen Cook, left, and Catherine Cain, walking in memory of Margaret Cain. was over £1,700. They did over £1,000 of this without any of my help!’

Nicky continued: ‘The Pink Ladies Day is being held this year in November at Drimsynie Estate, Lochgoilhead – a new venue for us set in amongst beautiful scenery. Our guests are ladies who have experienced breast cancer first hand and are treated to a day of fun, food, friendship, pampering and relaxation with a friend.

‘The event is free for our guests, covered by fundraising activities, and all of our health and beauty volunteers do an incredible job out of the goodness of their hearts.

‘We have lots more fundraising planned before the event in November, so if anyone wants to help out with any of these, please get in touch. And if anyone living with breast cancer – now or in the past – wishes to attend the Pink Ladies Day with a friend they can get in touch with me on 07786 861266 or email pinkladiesday@outlook.com.

‘And finally, if there are any beauticians, therapists, makeup artists or hairdressers who would like to join the volunteering team, please also get in touch.’
