Pupils achieving potential
Belief and confidence in each of Kilgraston’s Sixth Formers’ own abilities is key to success, says the Head of the school’s Sixth Form Deirdre McCormick.
Encouraging independence and a ‘can do’ approach will pave the way for a bright future wherever each girl wants to be, studying at a top university or making their mark on the world of work with a graduate apprenticeship.
Mrs McCormick said: “Sixth Form at Kilgraston focuses on fostering a belief and genuine confidence in each individual’s abilities and vision for their future.
“Our aim is that each pupil will leave school with independence and a ‘can do’ approach.”
The Kilgraston Sixth Form staff have 30 years shared UCAS experience, helping pupils reach their potential - bespoke guidance to each pupil starts early to shape their future choices.
“Our University and College Application Programme starts early, offering individualised support and guidance to help our pupils make important decisions that will shape their future and get each girl where she wants to be, whether it’s a top university in the UK, an institution overseas or a move into the world of work with a graduate apprenticeship,” added Mrs McCormick.
The exam results say it all. In 2021, pupils celebrated an impressive new record with 100 per cent of girls achieving Grades A to B at Advanced Higher level and 95 per cent achieving Grade A to B at Higher level.
A phenomenal 96 per cent of Kilgraston’s UCAS university applicants also received their firm choice of university with 52 per cent going to a prestigious Russell Group university.
Kilgraston’s Sixth Form experience in both learning and friendship will last for life, preparing pupils for the wider world.
“The school has done a fantastic job in preparing me for the wider world and I feel ready to move onto the next stage of my life. I will always keep in touch with the very strong network of friends that I have made here,” said one Sixth-Former.
