Delivering an engaging and fun learning experience

-

The west of Scotland’s only boarding school, offering a unique location and a forward-thinking approach to education.

At Lomond School we believe that balance is what drives happiness and success and we aim to deliver a learning experience which is engaging and fun, giving every child the tools they need to pursue a successful life beyond school. Our young people enjoy an enhanced curriculum which provides enrichment and experiences beyond the classroom. From extra-curricular activities to life changing trips, coming to Lomond School opens the door to a range of opportunities which help to develop confidence, respect and an outward looking approach which will serve our young people well in their futures.

As a non-selective school, our academic results are exceptionally high, and we believe that this is because we help our pupils to find a pathway which suits their individual needs allowing them to get the very best from their education. In S5 and S6 pupils have the option of three pathways: either SQA Highers and Advanced Highers, the IB Diploma Programme or the IB Career-related Programme with specialisation through an HNC in Business. This choice is unrivalled in Scotland and ensures that we have the right pathway for all.

Our boarding house, Burnbrae, is a purpose facility separate to the main school campus. With up to 60 boarders, the house is small enough to truly provide a family feel and being home to boys and girls provides a unique opportunity for siblings to live together in the same boarding house. All our pupils are respected and treated as individuals and our staff actively support their personal, social and educational development. Supporting our house parents in this are resident tutors, the school nurse, matrons and pupil peer group. Boarding at Lomond is an enriching experience that we truly believe provides a ‘home away from home’. Contact our Registrar to find out more.
