BID boss Andy shortlisted for Scotland Loves Local award
BID4Oban Chief Executive Andrew Spence has been shortlisted in the Place Leader category for the inaugural Scotland Loves Local Awards, writes Fiona Scott.
Individuals, businesses and community organisations from across the country are in the running for the accolades after being nominated by people who have seen and felt the positive impact of their work.
The awards are organised by Scotland’s Towns Partnership (STP) as part of the Scotland Loves Local campaign, which encourages everyone to choose local and support businesses in their communities to build a better, stronger future.
Commenting on his nomination, Andy said: ‘BID4Oban is delighted to have been nominated for this award after what has been a challenging period of time.
‘Although we have not been able to carry out all our activities, we have been involved in promoting Oban and working with businesses to support them throughout the Covid period. This nomination is recognition for all the work that we do behind the scenes.’
Winners will be announced during an online event, presented by STV’s Sean Batty, to be broadcast via social media on Thursday November 25. The celebration will also be the culmination of the Scotland’s Towns Conference, a weeklong showcase and celebration of innovation improving the nation’s towns and places.
STP Chief Officer Phil Prentice said: ‘All of our shortlisted entries stand testament to the dedication and innovation of those who make our communities great places in which to live.’
The recipient of the 2021 High Street Hero Award will also be announced during the event. The awards are sponsored by Collective Architecture, Commsworld, Creative Scotland, Historic Environment Scotland, Message Matters, South of Scotland Enterprise, Spar Scotland and ThreeSixty Architecture. They are also supported by STV.
