Mull’s Creel Seafood Bar is best in the land
A seafood bar on Mull has been named the country's Best Seafood Establishment at The Food Awards Scotland 2021
The Creel Seafood Bar on Fionnphort Pier has been feeding locals and visitors to Mull and Iona with fresh West Coast seafood since 2014.
‘This award means the absolute world,’ said the Creel Seafood Bar’s owner Siobhan Cameron: ‘I am so proud of all of our team and can’t thank them enough for all of their hard work.
‘My mum and dad passed over the business to me in 2016, and I can’t thank them enough for all of the support they have given me.
‘Without their trust and belief in me at the very beginning, we would have never come this far.’
Argyll and Bute MP Brendan O’Hara tabled a motion in the House of Commons congratulating Siobhan Cameron, and commending 'the hard work of manager Niamh Cowan and all the staff of the Creel Seafood Bar in contributing to this outstanding success'.
The text, sponsored by eight other MPs, also noted: ‘The Creel was originally opened in 2014 by Siobhan’s mum, Alex and her dad, Andrew, and had it not been for their hard work and determination to build the business in those early years, none of this success would have been possible.
‘Therefore thanks to everyone involved with Creel Seafood Bar, past and present for what they have done to put this small corner of the Isle of Mull on the culinary map of Scotland and [the House] wishes them all the very best for the future.’
‘The Food Awards Scotland 2021 recognises the success of local professionals and establishments that continue delivering great flavours and experiences to their customers,’ its organisers say.
‘The winners are a true reflection of high standard and customer service, as they are chosen by members of the general public, who often have eclectic gastronomic tastes.’
