BEAR staff nominate Lochaber Mountain Rescue team for donation
BEAR Scotland has donated £1,000 on behalf of all its staff to Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team (LMRT).
LMRT attend incidents that are remote from the roadside where the normal emergency services are unable to operate.
It provides rescue services in a wide range of scenarios, from climbers stuck on the north face of Ben Nevis, to canoeists trapped in steep-sided gorges.
LMRT is the sixth charity this year to benefit from BEAR Scotland’s focus on supporting local and regional causes across the country, with staff from all areas of the company invited to nominate local charities which are most important to them.
BEAR Scotland Operations Supervisor Duncan Crilley met with Dr Brian Tregaskis, Secretary of LMRT, after the charity received its £1,000 donation.
Dr Tregaskis commented: ‘Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team is a registered charity and our team members are unpaid volunteers.
‘Whilst we do receive some funding from the Scottish Government and charitable organisations, we rely upon donations to meet the significant costs of running the team.
‘With over 90 callouts a year, our rescue equipment and clothing suffers real wear and tear.
‘This donation will help us to maintain and replace this equipment and contribute towards the costs of providing training.’
