New course record in LAC Winter League

-

Around 60 hardy athletes completed the fourth race in the 10 round Lochaber Athletics Club Winter League recently when taking part in the Cour Loop in the Nevis Range.

Congratulations go to Ross Gollan from East Sutherland Athletics Club on his win and also setting what organisers are pretty sure is a new course record in one hour, five minutes and 14 seconds.

LAC’s Liam Hutson was 2nd with Shaun Cumming (Highland Hill Runners) in 3rd place.

Undefeated

A mention must also go to LAC’s Alan Ross on being fourth overall and 1st Male Veteran 40 - undefeated in his category in the league so far.

HHR women put on another strong performance. Caroline Marwick took the win with

Hanna Ward-Penny in 2nd and LAC’s Georgia White in 3rd.

A good day for running with some PBs and competitive racing right through the categories. Big thanks to the organiser and all the helpers.

Thanks

The second race in the junior winter league series was also held at Nevis Range.

Aaron Tresidder continued his good racing form with a first place in the under 11s over the 1600-metre course in seven minutes and 20 seconds.

He was followed by Caoimh Bellshaw in 8:20 while 3rd place went to Kai Tresidder in 8:48. 4, Jethro Cameron in 12:26; 5, Merry Wells in 13:54.

Maddison Macmillan was 1st under 13 in 15:08 for the 3200-metre course.

The first boy in the under 13 age group was Osian Bellshaw in 15:20 with Angus Davies 2nd in 18:51.

Training

Well done to all young athletes. Youngsters are invited to come to athletic training in the New Year and improve their fitness.

Thanks to Margaret Rose MacPhee, Willie Anderson, June Watt with the race, and to all the parents for their support. The next Winter League race will be at the end of January.
