Dingwall and Highland Marts Ltd,
Tuesday December 21 sold: 396 prime sheep. New season lambs (203) averaged 267.0p (+12.6p) and sold to 297.7p per kg for a pen of 43kg Texel crosses from Dunearn Farm, Nairn selling to Messrs John M Munro Ltd, Dingwall and £138 gross for a pen of 47.5kg Beltex crosses from Inshes Farm, Inverness.
Feeding sheep (193) sold to £135 gross for a Texel ram from 2 Ardmore, Edderton.
“A smaller show of prime lambs forward sold at increased values on the week. Unfortunately, the numbers forward today were insufficient to the demand we have here at Dingwall on a weekly basis. There were hardly any export weights forward with the sale consisting of mostly heavies or store type. There were a small number of ewes forward with no pure continental types in sight. There were one or two pens with a bit of power about them which met a firm enquiry and many more of this commodity could easily have been sold.”
