VIEW FROM THE CHAMBER

-

The Scottish Local Government Election for Highland Council is due to take place today and after which we will have confirmation of the local councillor candidates that have been voted into post and are now responsible for making decisions on our behalf about local services.

With the unfortunate postponement of last week’s hustings, we are keen to host Lochaber’s newly elected councillors to hear how they will engage with and, importantly, listen to businesses and the community about their needs moving forward.

After enduring an extremely challenging period for personal wellbeing and business, the hardship continues in many forms as cost of living, raw materials and business operating costs increase the burden.

For Lochaber Chamber of Commerce, communication, clarity and commitment will be needed from the new councillors as we strive to bring growth and benefit across our collective region.

We look forward to hearing the plans and commitments for the next term and we expect two-way clarity and equal participation between councillors and our business community – this is where Lochaber Chamber will facilitate these discussions and provide focus, productivity and a cycle of feedback – seeking a collaborative approach.

Your Chamber of Commerce is here for business in the Outdoor Capital of the UK and we want to hear your views, issues and needs as we look ahead to, not just the visitor economy opening up further and welcoming ‘temporary locals’ to our region, but what your community and business needs moving forward.

You can contact the chamber team by calling 01397 705765 or by emailing membership@ lochaberchamber.co.uk and our team will be happy to assist you, listen to your feedback and discuss your business needs.

We’re looking forward hearing from you. to
