The Oldie

When in doubt, lie

-

SIR: I understand and appreciate Frank Bailey’s problem when trying to order goods online or even through the post (Readers’ Letters, February issue). Just LIE! Take the mobile number of someone in your address book, and then just transpose the last two numbers. They are never going to check before they send you the stuff and, if it should rebound on you at a later date (which it won’t), just scratch your old grey head and mutter ‘Oh what a silly me’. I order a lot online and, apart from a correct address and card number, I have never told the truth and no one has ever refused me. Christine Hallett, Claygate, Surrey.
