Joints and airport security

-

SIR: This may help Dr Pat Pinsent who has problems with airport checks and the bleeping thereof when he/she and replacement hip enter the security zone (Readers’ Letters, February issue). I had similar issues with my titanium knees. When I was ordered by a cross female security guard to traverse the machine three times, she then searched me for hidden bombs and used a hand-held metal detector all over. Now that I have a letter from my doctor explaining that I have metal joints and get wheelchair carriage throughout the airport, I am treated with exceptional care and kindness and suffer no hassle.
