The Oldie has always encouraged its readers to write for the magazine. Now, with the multitude of digital outlets (including our very own blog!), we want to help readers build a second career in print or digital journalism.

Due to popular demand, we know that many of you want to try your hand – with a little insider help. So we have put together a crack team of highly experienced journalists to take you through writing for magazines and newspapers and online.

We set out how to approach editors, and how to write reviews, columns and travel pieces. Tom Hodgkinson, editor of the Idler, will offer advice on the dos and don’ts of journalism. And Dea Birkett will talk about the art of interviewing.

The venue is the Hogarth Room of the East India Club – with a very good finger-buffet lunch and wine.
