SIR: Matthew Norman clearly has not visited a golf course between Surrey and Scotland. Most golf clubs in England are modestly priced, welcome racial minorities and are keen to recruit women. As for the diamond-patterned knitwear and caddies, they are rarely spotted. Oldies are abundant and tolerated everywhere.
