Vale MP to run London marathon in aid of children with cancer uk

-

VALE MP Alun Cairns will run this year’s London Marathon in support of the charity, Children with Cancer.

Mr Cairns has raised over a hundred thousand pounds for different charities by completing the last 11 London Marathons. In running his 12th marathon this weekend, he will be joined with his son, Henri Cairns, who is making his first attempt at the 26.2 mile course.

Alun is the fastest MP amongst current members of the Commons and Lords, with a time of 3 hours 28 minutes, although he comes nowhere near former MP and Times journalist, Mathew Paris who completed the course in 2:32:57.

Children with Cancer have co-funded elements of a groundbreaking clinical trial which led to one of the biggest breakthroughs in the treatment of childhood leukaemia some years ago and continue in this vein. They also support families during the difficult treatment times.

Alun said, “Children with Cancer do fantastic work and it is a privilege to support such a good cause. They help fund research and support children diagnosed with cancer and help their families cope.

“The stories of the children are both heartbreaking and inspiring. I hope you can help.
